Rocket Lawyer Products

During my tenure at Rocket Lawyer, I was responsible for a series of key products across the business, ranging from Legal Documents, eSignatures, Accounts, and more. I’ve included here some of my most notable product creations.

Going Rocket Lawyer Red

After extensive research on competitor offerings and deliberation on how to communicate easy and affordable access to legal services, I worked with marketing and design to deliver a complete brand refresh at Rocket Lawyer. I cataloged all of the website user flows, documents, articles, and resources to organize the work required to make Rocket Lawyer red. I partnered with other members of the product team to organize the engineering effort and helped lead a final company-wide sprint to ensure a smooth transition.

The Blue Before Pages

Clarifying Rocket Lawyer’s Dashboard & Navigation

After delivery the Brand Refresh, is was clear that the user dashboard and global navigation needed an overhaul. The original design of the dashboard failed to teach users about the status of their current task and or educate them about Rocket Lawyer's other services. As for the navigation, its was listed out types of documents and failed to show the user where their work was stored. To increase engagement, educate users about other services, and improve the total life time value of users I worked with the business leads from each of our core services to deliver an updated experience.

The Old Version

Developing an eSignature Product

In 2013 Rocket Lawyer made a conscious decision to move away from 3rd party solutions for electronic signatures. There was an opportunity to have signatures, along with the company’s core Legal Document product, as a key offering to encourage users to keep their subscriptions for longer, increasing the value for our product and customer LTV.

At this time, the relative adoption of esignatures in business was low and required additional education for users (particularly to help folks understand when you could not use electronic signatures, like in the case of estate planning documents). We researched options to acquire some early-stage startups, specifically HelloSign which was also a Google Ventures company as well as PandaDoc, but ultimately the decision was made to create a service from scratch.

This new service needed to be legal in both the US and UK as the organization had recently opened an office in England to expand into European markets. After a long period of research, many meetings with legal experts, and many iterations I launched the first version of RocketSign.
